Enabling TurnItIn - CANVAS

Enabling TurnItIn - CANVAS

When using turn it in we have a few different steps to enable turnitin correctly.

1st, On the assignment you are wanting to use turnitin with, Click the edit button on Canvas.

After clicking edit, you will need to uncheck "Enable Turnitin Submissions" as that button no longer works. Then there will be a new tab 2 boxes down labeled "Plagiarism Review" click on the drop down and select "Turnitin-Originality"
(Note: If any assignments have been turned in, you will not be able to check or uncheck this box.)

.
Once that is changed and it is an Assignment that is already due, you will need to go back into the assignment, select speedgrader and resubmit using turnitin originality.

Once you have resubmitted it will detect "100%" since they have already turned the assignment in.

When you go to check you will receive an error page reading, "Bad Message 431" page, Copy the URL and paste it in a Incognito or Private browser.

Once you paste it in a private browser you will receive the following page that will be a license agreement.

Click the accept button and go to the similarity report. *Note* it will say 100% similarity detected if the assignment was already turned in and you have to resubmit it. (See example below)

Click on 100% similarity and uncheck the "Submitted works" check box. (The reason this needs to be unchecked, it will detected the whole thing as plagiarized since it was the same as the original submission, as it was technically "Resubmitted" by you)

After following these steps and enabling Turnitin for future classes with this new documentation, Turnitin should be working correctly again!
